Human Evolution
& Iodine
Throughout mamalian history, iodine has been an essential part in many levels of basic biological function, and man is no acception. The most successful civilizations tended to settle near coastlines, oasis', or waterways that provided access to the coastal waters. They also harnessed the nutritional value of dairy by learning how to make yogurts and cheeses in order to store the unique high quality nutrition for longer periods of time. In short, seafood, cheeses, and yogurts have been the primary sources of iodine in the human food chain, since the very begining.
Today, most seafood has been contaminated with mercury, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, drugs like chloramphenicol, nitrofurans and malachite green, chemicals so toxic to humans that they’re banned in all food.
